Sixth Annual
Best Practices Conference

The goal of the Institute is to promote best practices and good public policy through advocacy and unrelenting commitment.
The Institute has brought together the best in research, government, advocacy and providers to highlight best practices taking place throughout the United States.

Register 5 people and receive a 6th registration for free.  Registrations are for both days only.  No single day reservation rate. 


The Best Practices Conference has been approved for CEU credits thru DHS for
QMRP's, Licensed Social Workers, Licensed Nursing Home Administrators and Licensed Professionals Counselors.  

The Institute on Public Policy's annual Best Practices Conference will be March 18 and 19, 2010.  Sign in opens at 8:00 a.m., sessions begin at 9:00 a.m. Sessions end at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday and 12:00 noon on Friday.  Lunch is on your own for both days.

Innovative Practices that are Working in Illinois:

  • Managing the Art of Living, Microboards & Cooperatives: Vicki Niswander
  • Together We Can, New Models of Support:  Nancy Thaler
  • Best Practices in Illinois:  Panel

Using Technology to Enhance Work and Home Lives of People with Disabilities:

  • Increasing Independence Through Technology:  Sengentix/Dungarvin
  • Low Cost Assistive Technology:  Pat Meckley, Fox Developmental Center
     

Opening Keynote is Nancy Thaler, President of the National Association of State Directors of Developmental Disabilities.  Nancy will address emerging trends, strategic thinking, and new models of support.  Closing Keynote is Patricia Fratangelo, Executive Director of Onondaga Community Living in Syracuse, NY.  Her seminar titled "Changing Lives, Changing Systems" will include practical strategies on how to move a service system to be more centered on the people in need of service.
